OSWEGO, NY (July 22, 2022) – In order to enhance online banking security for members, Compass Federal Credit Union will be implementing a phased password reset, beginning Monday, August 15.
In light of increasing brute force login attempts that are ongoing against mobicint servers, Compass FCU’s online banking provider is requiring a password settings update for all newly changed passwords beginning on Monday, July 25.
On this date, new online banking passwords will have to be a minimum of 10 characters long, with a character variety setting of 3. The character variety means that members will need to have 1 character from at least 3 of the following categories: Uppercase, Lowercase, Number and Special characters.
To ensure that all members are achieving maximum security, Compass will be requiring a phased password reset beginning on Monday, August 15. This phased reset will come over the course of a 10-week period. Not all members will be prompted to change their passwords at the same time. When prompted during login, members will need to update their password to the new settings update listed above.
In the coming weeks, Compass will also introduce both email and SMS text-based 2-Factor Authentication for online banking logins. We will provide more details soon on this latest feature, which will further enhance member security.
