Compass FCU's Bank at School Program Expanding to All Fulton City School District Elementary Schools

OSWEGO, NY (September 23, 2024) – Compass Federal Credit Union’s longstanding Bank at School program is set to return for the 2024-2025 school year and will expand to all Fulton City School District elementary schools.

For more than ten years, Compass Federal Credit Union has facilitated the Bank at School program within the Oswego City School District, helping to provide real-world, hands-on banking experiences for students at any grade level.  Last January the program entered Fulton’s Fairgrieve Elementary school for the first time and following a successful pilot program, Bank at School will now be welcomed at Granby Elementary, Lanigan Elementary and Volney Elementary as well.

“This is an exciting time for our Bank at School program,” said Compass FCU CEO, Jennifer Rupert. “We cannot thank the Fulton City School District enough for allowing us to work with its students and begin the journey of helping to educate them on the importance and benefits of saving money.”

Running from October through May each school year, the Compass FCU Bank at School program offers students an opportunity to deposit money into their own account at school.  As part of the program, Compass opens a free account for those who participate.  Students who deposit money into their savings account on each bank day are able to choose a free prize from the credit union and are then entered into a chance for a variety of year-end prizes including gift cards, local coupons and to go inside of the Compass Cash Vault for an opportunity to win up to $200.

“Bank at School allows our students real-life experience with depositing money and watching their savings grow,” said Fairgrieve Elementary School Principal, Melissa Pietricola.  “We love that they get experience setting a financial goal for themselves and then work towards achieving it, right here at school.”

While expanding to Fulton, the Bank at School program is also eager to return to the Oswego City School District, continuing its partnerships with Charle E. Riley Elementary, Frederick Leighton Elementary, Minetto Elementary, Fitzhugh Park Elementary, Kingsford Park Elementary and Oswego Middle School.
